Inspiration & Design of ‘Visions of The Inner Universe’ (Original)

Inspiration for this work came from my growing interest in the study of sacred geometry and its potential to produce harmonious designs. Having worked with copper and patination, I was keen to explore the opportunities fine art painting had to offer. This artwork has a very special significance to me as it was my first fine art painting. It was very pleasing for it to win 1st place in a local art competition: New Artist, Miarangi Bay, Auckland, 2002.

The underlying geometry of the painting was entirely based on sacred geometry and the Fibonacci number sequence.

The work exhibits characteristics seen in some Suprematist paintings by Malevich & Lissitzky, and Kandinsky during his Bauhaus period.

Description of ‘Visions of The Inner Universe’

Square forms are seen to float on a cosmic background. At the top of the painting, golden sinusoidal waves flow from right to left; the harmonic creative force. The geometrical origin of these elements is located off the canvas, to the right; the source of creation is beyond our vision and comprehension.

Very finely painted lines represent the aura force-field around the higher forms as they move towards their point of creation. Their diminished interest in materialism is reflected in their reducing size.
Lower down the painting, as the forms move away from the point of creation, they begin to lose their aura and become larger, less bright and more material in their nature.
